Old Dairy Café

Quality homemade food

As the name suggests, the Old Dairy Café can be found in one of the original Estate Dairies. Converted in 2017, it has retained the original features of the building. The café team is headed up by chef Chris Larman and cafe manager Didier. There is a beautiful indoor seating area with plenty of space as well as additional outdoor tables within the courtyard. You will find the cafe at the entrance to the gardens
(please note you do not have to visit the gardens to use the Cafe).
Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome.

Open Wednesday to Sunday

Locally sourced

Our home-baked cakes and scones are always popular, including Victoria sponge, Coffee and Walnut, Lemon drizzle, and Vanilla shortbread, among many others. We have a barista coffee machine serving all the coffee shop favourites.

We also have a large selection of soft drinks, including sparkling rhubarb and elderflower from a local company in Kingsdown, and our own ‘famous’ Goodnestone Park apple juice. The café is licensed, serving wine and beers from established local brands, including Chapel Down and Shepherd Neame.

Within the café is a shop with gifts, our honey, apple juice, candles and a lovely range of cards.

The perfect Afternoon tea

We visited The Old Dairy Café for the first time for a family afternoon tea, and everything was perfect! The surroundings, the food, the staff all made for a fantastic combination and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We're so pleased we've found you, see you again soon - Trip Advisor June 2021

A passionate chef

Chris is passionate about homemade food using top quality, local ingredients. He is enjoying collaborating with Head Gardener Paul Bagshaw on produce being grown in the gardens to create a varied seasonal lunch menu. Chris makes all of the bread on the menu, with sourdough being the customers’ favourite for toasties.

Anything not produced on site is sourced from a carefully selected list of suppliers, including O’Brien Butchers based in Dover, Chapmans Seafood and C&M Hayes, our local vegetable supplier.
