A Church of the Holy Cross ceremony followed by a country house wedding celebration at Goodnestone Park
There’s something wonderful about a wedding day that starts with the quiet ceremony of a village church and ends with a party under the trees at one of Kent’s most beautiful stately home wedding venues. Emelie and Will’s day was exactly that, full of laughter, easy joy, and the kind of confetti-in-the-hair chaos that makes for the best real wedding photography, and we were so lucky to have them celebrate with us.
Emelie and Will exchanged vows at the historic Church of the Holy Cross, just a short stroll through our gardens from Goodnestone Park itself, one of the reasons couples planning a Kent wedding venue with a traditional church ceremony so often choose us. The morning was full of small, quiet moments, the register signed at a lace-covered table, a hand-tied posy resting nearby, before the energy shifted entirely as the newlyweds came back down the aisle, hands raised, grinning ear to ear.
From the church, the wedding party moved onto our grounds at Goodnestone Park, the Grade II-listed Georgian country house wedding venue that’s played host to countless Kent weddings over the years. Emelie and Will’s wedding breakfast and evening party took place in our Orangery Marquee, with Urban Pantry taking care of the food and The Wedding Dolls coordinating the day from start to finish — keeping the flow from ceremony to reception effortless.
Our grounds gave the perfect backdrop for portraits — the flint and stone walls, the sweeping parkland, and that unmistakable country house elegance without ever feeling stiff or formal. Emelie’s sleek, modern dress with its sweeping train moved beautifully across the lawns, and Will’s soft blue waistcoat tied the whole look together.
Emelie and Will’s day is a perfect example of why we continue to be one of Kent’s most sought-after stately home wedding venues — a historic church a few minutes’ walk away, gardens and parkland that photograph beautifully in every season, and a team who make the whole day feel completely seamless.
If you’re planning a wedding in Kent and love the idea of a church ceremony followed by a country house celebration, we’d love to show you around. Get in touch today to book a viewing.
